A nice family walk is the perfect low-stress activity. Even if you just stroll around the block, getting them in a new environment and exercising will do them a world of good. The sunlight will make them feel more energised, they’ll get to bond (away from screens) and they’ll even learn more about the neighbourhood.
You too, parents! Pick up a colouring book for each member of the family, grab some coloured pencils or pens, sit down together and colour to your hearts content. Not only will it keep your kids entertained, but it’s also a good way to help them wind down. Plus, it’s a good time for all members of the family to sit down and bond.
This might just be the most ‘low stress, low cost’ activity on this list. Head to the backyard, the park or the beach, lay out a picnic blanket and just lie down! If it’s night time, use the opportunity to teach your kids about space and the many stars and constellations to be found. If it’s daytime, you can spend ages finding different shapes in the clouds or learning about the different types up there. It’s an especially perfect activity for your science-minded or creative kids.
Like literally, play the game Just Dance. You don’t need the video game itself – there are so many clips on YouTube with screen recordings of the game that you can simply pop on the TV and let the family fun ensue. You can show them the songs from your childhood, while learning about newer music and dances. It’s a really fun and different way to get in a bit of exercise, too. While it might be a kids’ game, you will definitely be puffed out after – trust us!
