‘Often likened to a cruise ship on land’ Paradise Resort Gold Coast has won numerous ‘Best Family Resort’ titles over the decades, but this was the first time it had taken out a Gold for Unique Accommodation.

The award was announced at the prestigious Queensland Tourism Awards on Friday night in Brisbane, and Paradise Resort will now go on to compete for national honours in the Australian Tourism Awards, which will be held in March 2022.

Owner, Dr Jerry Schwartz, wasn’t surprised at all by the unusual accolade.

“People are looking for unique holidays, and Paradise Resort is exceptionally unique because it almost exclusively caters for kids,” he said.

It really is like a cruise ship on land, where everything is dedicated to having fun. Kids just never run out of things to keep them occupied and happy, which in turn allows parents to wind down and have some quality time to themselves.

“During Covid we took the opportunity to close the resort and invest close to $20 million in upgrading the resort and creating an even better experience. While we designed a new lobby and reception, upgraded rooms and unveiled new dining facilities, most of the investment went on upgrading facilities for our principal guests – kids.

“We introduced a new-look water park, adventure playground and introduced a new ride-on miniature train that showcases the resort’s extensive grounds. We also gave our ice-skating rink, kids club, daily activities and entertainment program a make-over and we’ll introduce a new carousel for Christmas.”

Paradise Resort General Manager, David Brook, said that while Paradise Resort Gold Coast maybe one of Australia’s most familiar and popular resorts, it was totally committed to introducing new ideas and over-delivering on guest expectations.

“We constantly win awards for being the best family-friendly resort, so to win the Unique Accommodation award and now go on to compete against the country’s best in the Australian Tourism Awards is really special,” said Mr Brook.

“What sets us apart from other resorts is that our owner Jerry Schwartz believes that an ‘investment in fun’ is just as important as investing in bricks and mortar.

“It’s been a challenging year and there’s a lot to be proud of. Our team work tirelessly to deliver something new year after year and ensure each family enjoys their stay. From the complimentary session in the Kids Club to the exclusive daily activities and evening entertainment, we strive to exceed the expectations of families visiting the Gold Coast.”

“Time is precious, so family holidays are even more so, he believes. And with three young children of his own, Dr Schwartz has very high goals when it comes to the quality of children’s facilities and activities. His idea is that the resort needs to impress youngsters to such an extent that they never want to leave – or at least they always want to return.

“Paradise Resort is also remarkably affordable for a resort so rich in family-oriented facilities and activities, and we have such a passionate and genuine team who deliver memorable holidays for our guests.”

The resort has one final nomination for the year set to be announced this Saturday. After winning the award for ‘Tourism and Hospitality’ across the region in August the resort is now up for “Gold Coast Business of the year” in the 2021 Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards.

The entire team at Paradise Resort were excited to receieve the award, recognised by industry peers.
