Vaccine requirements will still apply to visitors and workers in vulnerable settings including:

  • Hospitals
  • Aged and disability care
  • Prisons
  • Schools and early childhood centres

Until then, the current vaccination and check-in requirements on this page remain in effect.  Read more

International travel

The Australian Government has announced that Australia will re-open for all fully vaccinated international travellers on February 21 without the need for quarantine or travel exemptions.

The only further requirement to enter Queensland is a negative COVID-19 test (Rapid Antigen Tests are accepted) within 24 hours of entry into the state, enabling the return of leisure visitors, business travellers and other visitors to Australia, bolstering the Queensland tourism industry.

Current restrictions apply until 1am AEST Saturday 15 January 2022.

International travel

Some restrictions on entry from overseas still apply.

Arriving direct into Queensland from a safe travel country is quarantine free.

International travel restrictions will ease further when 90% of Queenslanders aged 16 or over are fully vaccinated, as per the Plan for Queensland’s Borders.

While the reopening of borders to domestic travellers has been pushed forward, the Queensland Government has confirmed that the upcoming new public health mandates for hotels, events and venues will still take effect on December 17. Accordingly, all non-essential services are able to continue serving unvaccinated customers and guests until December 17.
